festival overview

Shambhala Music Festival is Canada’s premiere electronic music and arts festival. 200+ cutting-edge artists and 6 jaw-dropping stages come together in paradise to give life to this non-sponsored, family-run anomaly.

Tucked between the mountains and the Salmo River on a 500-acre farm, the festival is home to world-class harm reduction services and the very best in music and art. This is a festival experience like no other, seeing it for yourself is the only way to understand exactly what Shambhala is. See you in Salmo, British Columbia soon.

Vision and values

Shambhala Music Festival acknowledges and is grateful to the Syilx, Sinixt and Ktunaxa nations on whose land we work, live and play.

Shambhala Music Festival was born from a vision as grassroots as it gets. On a sunny Labour Day weekend back in 1998, some 500 people gathered at the Salmo River Ranch for a party that showcased local art and music. From those early, heady days, Shambhala grew with enthusiasm by word of mouth, quickly becoming a staple event for the West Coast underground electronic music scene.

Today 20,000 guests, crew and artists affectionately known as our Farmily gather to experience our six uniquely themed stages, showcasing the best in electronic and live music from around the globe and our very talented backyard. Once the magic is over, the Salmo River Ranch transforms back into a 500-acre working farm, home to cows, horses, farm dogs, pigs, chickens and miniature donkeys.
Ultimately, Shambhala Music Festival is a celebration of music, art, community and life, steeped in one of the most beautiful festival venues in the world. Come and feel the Shambhalove for yourself.

It’s all about the people on the dance floor.

The Farmily and Shambhalove

The magic of this shared collective experience is fueled by Shambhalove. Love yourself and others by practicing compassion in a community-based atmosphere. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first time on the ranch or your 20th, you will always be met with open arms.

Awaken Your Senses

The Pagoda stage transforms a house into a portal, and nearby, the Grove offers an escape with deep forest frequencies. The Fractal Forest feels like partying inside a kaleidoscope, with psychedelic patterns in the stages, nature, and within yourself.

Salmo River

Picture lounging by the Salmo River when suddenly, a 10-person unicorn floaty floats by, inviting you aboard. The river behind the Living Room stage is perfect for relaxing and regrouping—or having a splash-filled time with new friends!

Echoes of Connection

Marry your Shambhalove at the Wedding Chapel, find peace in yoga classes, indulge in delicious food from our stalls and markets, or create your own unofficial experience and connect with the Shambhala Farmily. Experience the festival buzz with unofficial events happening all weekend long.

Wish Tree

The stunning Wish Tree stands tall, radiating warmth and openness with handwritten notes of positivity and kindness hanging from its branches. Take a moment to sit down, reflect, and be thankful under its lush green leaves.

Stay Weird

Release any judgment towards yourself and others by using an open-hearted approach to all that you encounter. Come as you are, escape the realm of the ordinary, and allow your unique, beautiful personality to shine.

Harm Reduction

The driving force behind Shambhala Music Festival’s extensive Harm Reduction is simple: "It’s all about the people on the dancefloor." Over the past 25 years, Shambhala has established itself as a leader in health and safety standards in the North American festival industry, and we plan to continue to lead this conversation well into the future.

Nestled between the stages and workshops that take place over the course of Shambhala Music Festival, is Camp Clean Beats. Working alongside the Harm Reduction Team, Camp Clean Beats is a sober-supportive space where ravers choosing to abstain from substances (including alcohol) are welcomed with open arms! Whether you're stopping by for a quick visit or you decide to make Camp Clean Beats your home base through the duration of the festival, this team offers a safe space and community for sober ravers, including peer-based recovery support and daily meetings for those interested.

Shambhala Music Festival is truly a transformational experience with a legacy of long-standing traditions. Uphold Shambhala traditions through active participation and selfless acts. Embrace the old, while welcoming the new with open arms.
